PRESIDENT OF THE SIERRA LEONE ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS (SLASW), EARNS ERASMUS MUNDUS MASTER’S DEGREE IN ADVANCED DEVELOPMENT IN SOCIAL WORK

George Mansaray, the esteemed President of the Sierra Leone Association of Social Workers (SLASW), has recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Advanced Development in Social Work, an achievement made possible through the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. This advanced degree, jointly facilitated by universities in the UK, Denmark, France, Portugal, and Poland, underscores Mansaray’s unwavering dedication to the field of social work.

A DISTINGUISHED CAREER IN SOCIAL WORK

Mansaray’s extensive academic and professional background demonstrates his commitment to social work and sustainable development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development and Economics from the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH/NJALA) and has pursued a Master’s in Sustainable Development from the University of Makeni (UNIMAK). Additionally, he has earned various certificates in parenting, adult education, youth leadership, project planning, and social development from institutions in the United Kingdom and Sierra Leone.

PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY IMPACT

With over three decades of experience, Mansaray has significantly impacted numerous organizations. He began his career as a teacher at the American Wesleyan Secondary School and later served in various social work capacities, including roles at Freetown City Council, Christian Children’s Fund, and GOAL Ireland. Notably, his work with street children and war-affected youths has left an indelible mark on communities across Sierra Leone.As the CEO and Co-founder of Ruth’s Hope Kindergarten and the Country Director of Kiradi Initiatives Sierra Leone, Mansaray has promoted ecological social work and advocated for the professionalization of social work in Sierra Leone. His leadership extends to regional and international platforms, where he actively participates in conferences and collaborates with organizations to elevate the profession.
